Chiayi's High Speed Rail Station
Besides the Taipei and Panchiao (板橋) stops, I think all of Taiwan's high speed rail (HSR) stations must be situated in the countryside. In Chiayi (嘉義), the station is about a 25-minute drive from the city. A lot of people have complained how "inconvenient" this is. I don't know how they would've ever put in these big stations, with the massive parking lots (by Taiwan's terms) and great views, in the cities.

It just remind me of something about Japan. I've ever been to Osaka and Tokyo, and taken JR (Japan Rail or Japanese sound like Shin Gan Shan ) to Hokaido. I have to say their service is pretty good. But for Taiwan HSR, I'm sill suspicious of a fact that if theirs is as good as Japan. So I'm not planning to take, at least in near future. There is an opinion I like to share with you. That is why lot's of HSR Stations built near by suburban, rather in the cities. Because they said that most reasons had been involved in the benefits between politicians and buseness men. What do you feel with I said?
I am interested to know if you saw any signs of the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that is supposed to connect Chiayi with the HSR Station.
There are plans to build railway/MRT lines connecting most of the stations to the nearest city centre.
I didn't, but I wasn't looking. A colleague picked me up at the station. There is a taxi stand. There were at least 20 taxis lined up at it. It seems like a nice place for drivers to park and shoot the shit.
