My wife found this somewhere; this is the traditional textbook. Many people have complained that Taiwan's old textbook didn't teach Taiwanese that they were victims, both culturally (Yunlin Massacre, 2-28 Massacre and White Terror) or nationally (Asia's orphan, abandoned by China over a 100 years ago and isolated by the world's countries ever since). They're rectifying this now.

Holy cow, I had a book just like that when i was young. Lots of propaganda in there.
Have they actually gotten any better? They have a different slant now, but don't account for the history any better. They start at 1660 and have not spoken about Dutch or Spanish anyplace.
